Virat and Anushka Donate 5 Lakh each for Mumbai Police Welfare Fund

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma made the donation in wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

One of India’s famous power couple, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has donated 5 lakh each for Mumbai police welfare fund. The donation was made for the police personnel who are working tirelessly in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.

Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh shared the information through his Twitter account.

“Thank you, @imVkohli and @AnushkaSharma for contributing Rs. 5 lacs each towards the welfare of Mumbai Police personnel. Your contribution will safeguard those at the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus. #MumbaiPoliceFoundation,” Singh tweeted from his official handle.

The couple has been quite active on the philanthropic front amidst the coronavirus pandemic in India. Earlier, Kohli and Sharma had given undisclosed amounts to the PM CARES fund and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support the fight against COVID-19.

Maharashtra has been reeling under a severe attack from coronavirus. The state has the highest number of coronavirus positive cases in India. Healthcare workers and the police personnel are working non stop to contain the spread of coronavirus in Maharashtra. The gesture from Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma is sure to lift the spirits of the frontline warriors in the fight against coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli following the lockdown is keeping himself active on social media. The Indian skipper Kohli has done Instagram Live sessions with Kevin Pietersen and AB de Villiers and during the chat, Kohli said that people need to keep on following social distancing guidelines to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

The number of coronavirus cases across the country has been rising steadily at a fast pace with a total number of infections nearing 65000 with death toll crossing 2000.
